Brook Kothlow 70’s
Carmel Valley Residence Brook- Kothlow and Hodgin Architects 2016
Michelle Comeau Landscape Architect
This vintage Brook-Kothlow design from the mid-seventies was adapted to a new site 100 yards from its original location (the original had been demolished). Although there are almost four decades separating the original designing of this house and the Trainer Residence (see “Carmel Valley” in the portfolio) you will find they share several important design themes. These were the final two projects that George Brook-Kothlow was working on when he passed away in 2012.
Sustainable building features include the passive solar design and the photovoltaic system to make this a zero net energy home. There is also a thirty thousand gallon storage tank to capture the roof water.
